Where to eat in Phra Tamnak

When I first came to Pattaya, I had no idea which areas were best for food. Luckily, my first stop was 3 Mermaids in Phra Tamnak—and it completely changed my expectations. From the sweeping sea views on the terrace to the stylish setup and delicious dishes, it was the perfect introduction. As I left in the taxi, I passed several more restaurants that immediately caught my eye, each looking just as inviting.

Of course, great food can be found all over Pattaya, but if you want a concentration of stylish, scenic, and memorable dining spots, Phra Tamnak is where to start.

The 3 Mermaids

As mentioned, 3 Mermaids was my introduction not only to Phra Tamnak but also to Pattaya as a whole. From the street you’d never guess what awaits inside. Step through the entrance and you’re greeted by a huge terrace, laid out with bird’s nest seating, regular tables, and plenty of space so it never feels crowded, even on the busiest nights.

To your right, the view opens up across the beach and ocean below. You can watch boats heading out toward Koh Larn, speedboats zipping past, and the coastline stretching in both directions—it’s genuinely idyllic. In the evening, the scene transforms: the coastline lights up, strings of fairy lights glow around the bar, and live music drifts through the night, creating a relaxed and romantic atmosphere.

The menu offers a mix of Thai and international dishes, with something for even the fussiest of eaters. Both the food and service are consistently excellent, making 3 Mermaids a must-visit when exploring Phra Tamnak.

The Sunny Beach House

The Sunny Beach House is tucked into the grounds of the Asia Pattaya Hotel, accessed by walking through the lobby to its cliffside perch. At first, the hotel’s slightly dated look might make you pause—but step outside and the surprise hits. A wide, sunlit lawn leads to a terrace shaded with bright yellow and white sunshades.

From here, the beach stretches out below on your right, while to your left, a stylish indoor area with a bar opens onto the sea breeze through fold-back glass walls. The space feels airy, open, and very different from most restaurants in Phra Tamnak, thanks to the expansive grounds.

The food matches the setting. I opted for a pizza, fresh and flavorful, but my friends’ Thai dishes smelled so good I couldn’t help regretting my choice. Judging by their happy faces (and slightly smug comments), the Thai food is a must-try.

Whether you’re after spectacular views, stylish dining, or just a breezy escape from the crowds, Sunny Beach House is well worth a visit.

The Lunar Beach House

The Lunar Beach House is one of the smaller eateries along Phra Tamnak Beach—but that’s mainly because some of the nearby spots are impressively large. Its terrace features charming rustic bamboo shades and graceful archways, which open onto a comfortable, air-conditioned indoor dining area. The terrace itself is cozier than many of the other places featured in this blog and has been designed with a keen eye for detail. Despite being a suntrap, it benefits from plenty of natural shade from trees and awnings, keeping it refreshingly cool even on the hottest days.

The Lunar Beach House offers a diverse menu that caters to a variety of tastes, blending Thai and international flavors in a relaxed, beachside setting. Start your day with their specialty coffees or refreshing cold-pressed juices, perfect for sipping while enjoying the sea breeze. For breakfast or brunch, options like the signature Shokupan Toast and American fried rice are popular choices. The lunch and dinner menu features a mix of Thai classics such as som tam (papaya salad) and fried rice, alongside international favorites like pizzas, pastas, and seafood dishes. Vegetarian and vegan options are also available, including dishes like chickpea curry and tofu scramble sandwiches. To complement your meal, the drink menu offers a selection of mocktails, teas, and cocktails, including the popular Sunset Spritz and Pina Colada. Desserts like crème brûlée and cheesecake provide a sweet ending to your dining experience.

The Sky Gallery

The Sky Gallery is built for Instagram, not at the expense of the food, but they’ve certainly made the most of the view. There’s even a platform set up for the best shots — and thoughtfully, it’s not near the tables, so the wannabe models won’t annoy you while you eat.

The hillside location gives it wide terraces that look straight out to sea, making it one of the best sunset spots in Pattaya. The menu leans heavily on fresh seafood — grilled tiger prawns, soft-shell crab curry, whole snapper with Thai herbs, and oysters are standouts — but there’s plenty for non-seafood eaters too.

Thai staples like som tam, tom yum, and green curry sit comfortably alongside Western comfort food including wood-fired pizzas, pasta dishes, burgers, and hearty salads. For dessert, expect classics like mango sticky rice and rich chocolate cake. Drinks range from barista coffee and fresh juices to wines, local beers, and a strong cocktail selection.

The atmosphere is stylish but relaxed, with parasol-shaded tables and just enough polish to feel special without being stuffy. Time it for sunset and you’ll see why this is one of Phra Tamnak’s most popular spots.

The Chocolate Factory

The Chocolate Factory is another of my favourite places in Phra Tamnak. I’ve always been welcomed warmly by the staff here, and since this website is just a hobby — with no one knowing it’s mine — I can say with confidence that the excellent service is genuine. It’s not “formal” or over the top, but the kind of service where people seem genuinely pleased to see you and want you to enjoy yourself.

As the name suggests, chocolate is at the heart of the experience. Their dessert menu is a dream for any chocolate lover: molten lava cakes, chocolate domes, rich truffles, and chocolate-topped waffles all crafted with care. Even the drinks menu has its sweet side, with chocolate shakes, mochas, and specialty hot chocolates perfect for indulging a sweet tooth.

Beyond dessert, the menu offers a solid mix of Thai and international dishes, from green curry and tom yum to wood-fired pizzas, pasta, and hearty salads. But it’s the chocolate creations that keep people coming back.

The atmosphere matches the indulgence: modern, stylish interiors with both indoor and outdoor seating and beautiful views of the Gulf of Thailand. Cozy enough for a relaxed brunch, romantic enough for a sunset date, it’s a place to slow down, savour the chocolate, and enjoy the moment.

There are plenty of excellent venues in Phra Tamnak, but these are my personal favourites. The 3 Mermaids is my sentimental pick, The Chocolate Factory always offers a lovely welcome, The Lunar Beach House is a bit more snug and quiet, The Sunny Beach House stands out with its spacious, airy feel, and The Sky Gallery is hard to beat for the views. The other spots I haven’t mentioned — The Oxygen, Kliff Beach Club, The View, and The Forest By The Sky — are all excellent as well. Honestly, I think Phra Tamnak is far and away the best location to eat out in Pattaya.
