Folk & Flours, Dong Tan Beach – A Café by the Sea Worth an Afternoon
If you’re cruising along the coastline of Dong Tan Beach (just south of the main Jomtien strip) and you spot a charming wood-and-glass café set right by the sand, you’ve found Folk & Flours. I stopped there on a warm afternoon and the experience deserves its place on your Things to Do in Pattaya list.
The Location & Vibe
Nestled right on the seafront, the café gives you direct glimpses of gentle waves and an easy-breeze atmosphere. The outdoor tables sit under the shade of mature trees, so while the beach sun is bright, you can take a seat and feel comfortably relaxed without being blasted by heat. I settled down outside, latte in hand, watching beachgoers amble by and the sea stretching out beyond.
Inside, the décor leans toward natural wood and soft lighting—it has that relaxed coastal-café feel where time seems to pause for a moment.
Ambience
Eating outdoors under the canopy of leaves gave the place a quiet escape-like feeling—perfect for slowing down, reading, working on your phone, or simply watching the world drift past. The mix of local Thai visitors and international guests meant the conversation was soft and mellow. The background soundtrack? Just the sea breeze and distant footsteps on sand. It felt like a little retreat from the busier parts of Pattaya.
Menu Highlights & My Choices
The menu leans café / brunch with both Thai comfort classics and lighter Western touches. Given the prime location, you’ll find pastries and baked goods, but also more substantial dishes.
I opted for the ผัดกะเพรา (pad krapow)—a bold Thai favourite. It arrived piping hot with fragrant basil and just the right kick.
I paired that with an iced latte, served in a tall glass, perfectly balanced: smooth milk, firm espresso, and plenty of ice (essential in this climate!).
Prices hover in the moderate range for seaside café standards in Pattaya: expect mains around 200–300 ฿ (give or take) and coffee drinks in the region of 120–180 ฿ (this based on what I paid).
If you’re just looking for something lighter, the pastry selection and café-style sandwiches also looked very tempting.
Why it stood out
Outstanding view & shade: The beachfront spot is rare and the tree-shaded exterior seating is a winner for comfort plus scenery.
Relaxed atmosphere: Not rushed, not flashy—it’s the kind of café you can linger at.
Good food & drink: The pad krapow and iced latte were solid; enough to give you confidence that the rest of the menu is worth a look.
Location convenience: If you’re already exploring Dong Tan/Pattaya area, easy to slot this in as a calm stop between activity bursts.
