Treetown Pattaya: My Guide to the Beating Heart of Soi Buakhao
When I first set foot in Treetown Pattaya, I knew straight away this was one of those places that perfectly captures the city’s nightlife energy. It’s right in the middle of Soi Buakhao, and while it might look like just another square in the daytime, by evening it transforms into a neon-lit hub of food, music, and bars that never seem to sleep.
I like to think of Treetown as a crossroads. On one side you have the food stalls and small market, and on the other you’ve got row after row of bars — everything from simple beer stalls to full sports pubs. If you want a night that doesn’t feel too polished or over-the-top, but still gives you all the buzz and atmosphere Pattaya is famous for, Treetown is the place to go.
The Nightlife Vibe in Treetown
The first thing I always notice is the sound. By 7 or 8 PM, music drifts out of every bar, laughter rises from the tables, and the whole square feels alive. Compared to Walking Street, it’s much more relaxed. Here you don’t feel rushed or pressured — you can wander, sit down for a cheap drink, and just enjoy watching the world go by.
For me, the atmosphere is one of Treetown’s biggest draws. It’s a mix of tourists trying it out for the first time, expats who make it their nightly hangout, and locals running the stalls or stopping for a chat. There’s always something happening: pool games, football on big screens, live singers giving it their all. It’s noisy, but in the best way.
My Favorite Bars in Treetown
I’ve spent plenty of evenings bar-hopping here, and a few spots stand out every time.
Danny’s Sports Bar
If you’re a football fan like me, Danny’s Sports Bar is a must. It’s packed on match nights, with screens showing everything from Premier League football to UFC and boxing. I like the vibe here — it’s friendly, the prices are fair, and there’s always a good buzz when a big game is on.
Basilisk Bar
When I want a mix of live music and a quieter corner to talk, I head to Basilisk Bar. The bands here play classic rock and pop, and it feels more laid-back than some of the louder places. Plus, if you enjoy pool, this is one of the better bars for it.
35 Bar (Long Hang 35)
This place has become a bit of a ritual for me. 35 Bar is all about pool. The owners are friendly and often join in the games, which makes it more personal. It’s casual, the drinks are well-priced, and you can easily spend hours here without realizing.
ICU Bar
One of the more quirky spots, ICU Bar is where I tried a Finnish drink called Lonkero for the first time. It’s basically a gin-grapefruit mix, and it’s surprisingly refreshing in the Pattaya heat. ICU has a fun, slightly offbeat vibe that I really enjoy when I want something different.
Cocktail Car
I usually like to start my night at Cocktail Car. It’s literally a retro caravan turned into a bar, and the cocktails are some of the better ones in Treetown. Go around 9 PM before things get too busy — it’s a good warm-up spot.
Of course, there are dozens of other little bars, each with their own character. Half the fun is exploring and seeing which one feels right for the night.
This is why Treetown is so good, no matter what you want to do there is a bar that covers it. If you want to play pool all evening, you can do that, if you want to listen to some live music you can. And there is more than one option for all of this.
Eating in Treetown
No evening here is complete without food. The central part of Treetown is a proper street-food court, and I love grabbing something different each time.
Thai skewers hot off the grill
Pad Thai and fried rice made fresh in giant woks
Seafood like grilled squid or prawns with spicy dipping sauce
And yes, even late-night burgers and kebabs if I’m craving something heavier
It’s not just Thai food either — there are international stalls and even a McDonald’s right at the entrance if you want something quick and familiar. But if you are in the mood for a Burger don’t go to McDonalds go next door to Prime Burger, its a bit more expensive but the quality is way better and you can sit in there have a beer, watch sport on the TV and enjoy a meal.
When I’m in the mood for a sit-down meal, Butsaba Cafe & Wine is my pick. It’s an Italian spot tucked right in Treetown with a surprisingly big wine selection. It’s pricier than the food stalls, but a nice change when I want a proper dinner before heading back into the bars.
The Market Side of Treetown
Although Treetown is best known for its nightlife, I also like the little market vibe it has during the day. Some vendors set up clothes and souvenir stalls, and you’ll find everyday items alongside snacks and drinks.
On Tuesdays and Fridays, the bigger Soi Buakhao Market takes over the area next door. That’s where you can wander through endless rows of cheap T-shirts, sunglasses, and food carts. It’s hot and busy, but worth checking out if you want to see another side of local life before Treetown turns into its evening party zone.
Tips From My Experience
Best time to go: After 8 PM, when the bars are in full swing. The party often runs until 3 or 4 AM.
Prices: Very reasonable. Beers around 60–80 baht, cocktails 120–180 baht, food stalls from 40 baht.
Cash is king: Bring small notes for food and drinks.
Stay cool: It’s all open-air, so dress light and expect the heat.
Wander: Don’t just stop at the first bar — half the fun is exploring the whole square.
Treetown has become one of my go-to spots in Pattaya. It’s not glamorous, but that’s exactly the point. It’s fun, affordable, and packed with energy every night. Whether I’m catching a football match, trying a new street-food snack, or simply people-watching with a cold beer in hand, I always leave Treetown with a story to tell.
If you’re visiting Pattaya, make sure you save a night to experience it for yourself.
